Waiswa Batambuze
Managing Director / Co-Founder
He is basically the guy who runs after the team to see that the dream of This Is Uganda still stands. His love for telling stories about change makers is what made him co-found this platform that is becoming the number one source for positive stories about Uganda and Ugandans. Waiswa is a lawyer, avid reader and adventurer who plans to travel to all African countries by 2025.
Prudence Nyamishana
Founder / Editor
Prudence Nyamishana is a communications specialist that is passionate about women’s rights, governance, civic engagement and sustainable development. She is a Ugandan citizen that makes he voice heard through her blog - Pru’s Notebook and @nyapru1 on twitter. She is Uganda’s Global Voices contributor amplifying human rights, gender, governance, and development stories that are trending on social media. She is currently a communications consultant with Centre for Public interest Law Uganda. She has done a number of communications related work with a number of development agencies including Watoto, Forum for Women in Democracy, ManUp, UN Women, USAID, and UNVolunteers. With all this communications work she hopes that her country will be a better place.
Ninno JackJr
Design / Photography
Innocent Amanyire also known by Ninno Jack Jr is Creative Designer at Trac FM and Junction systems Ltd, and passionate about Photography. In his free time, Ninno is studying creative design trends, brainstorming on ideas for Web Development and Photo blogging. He is driven by a desire to contribute to the creative space he is in with a keen eye for magnificent design works and is constantly stretching his limits. His love for Uganda - its beauty and stories led him to 'This is Uganda', a team he enjoys working with to tell the beautiful untold side of the pearl.
Shanine Ahimbisibwe

Shanine is a writer, a blogger, a public speaker and organizational psychologist currently majoring in Human resource management. She is passionate about creative writing and seeks to make a substantial contribution towards the creative arts in Uganda. She enjoys reading and loves being in the company of people. She has participated in a number of campaigns, on and off social media aimed at addressing socio-economic and health issues. Her aim with This Is Uganda is to create a deeper sense of pride and ownership of Uganda by Ugandans through unearthing the unsung heroes, telling the positive story and celebrating the pearl of Africa.
Ernest Dennis Ssesanga
Cofounder / Business Strategy
Dennis is a public health specialist with love for health, sports, dance,spoken word, technology, & entertainment. He has worked with Google & done health promotion at Marie Stopes, Public Health Ambassadors Uganda & International Health Sciences University. He is a published poet who has performed with the lantern meet of poets and a regular face at Open Mic Uganda. His love for positive stories and celebrating unsung heroes led him to This is Uganda. He says that you can create what you don’t have by using what you have!
