If you’re planning on a luxury Uganda safari but will be on a budget car rental during your trip and have the flexibility to go where and when you want, you’re probably going to need to rent a car on your vacation.

Depending on where you are going Uganda car rental should not be a problem if you understand and follow their car rental rules and regulations, so you don’t make costly rental car mistakes. You may think that you have travelled enough and know more of the car rentals; you will be making a great mistake.

The number #1 thing people get wrong about Uganda car rental is thinking that they know more and better. But there’s always something that surprises and confounds you. Below are some of the facts to consider before you get it all wrong.

Mistake #1.Not Talking to the Rental Car

There are special rules that apply any time you drive a rented car. Reading and understanding all the car rental rules and regulations saves you a lot of troubles in the near future on your Uganda safari.

Dropping the car in a different country or place the costa that come along with it, the customs at the borders posts, where the car a can  go and at what time should you stop and start driving you rented car.

And make sure you’ve disclosed all of the locations you will be taking the car. One country may require an International Driver’s License, while the other doesn’t, or the car might require special permits to enter. All of these issues will be costly if you’re caught.

If you rent a car on Saturday and return it on Monday, you very well may be charged for 3 days, rather than 2. Most companies charge on a 24-hour basis, so if you keep the car for 26 hours, you’ll be charged for 2 full days. Remember when you reserved the car online and you put in what time you’d pick and return the vehicle?

These may be very same issues but they may end up costing you a lot in the end.

Mistake #2: Asking for Extra Services

You’re in a new city and you don’t know how to get around. A GPS offers great peace of mind that you’re heading in the right direction and won’t get lost down somewhere in Uganda where even the network may not be there.

But also renting a GPS will cost you from as low as 10$- 40$ a day. Will this be worth paying or getting a maps me on your phone to help you get around Instead of paying these costly rental fees, you could just use Google Maps on your mobile phone, even if you don’t have a sim card or data.

Gets up to speed with what is happening with the car with the rental agency contacts they gave you would be a great saver. Other services are also a costly car rental mistake. I know it’s terribly inconvenient to take along a child’s car seat, but doing so could save you $100 over a week-long car rental.

Did you know that you can actually rent a driver guide daily from as low as $30- $80 per day to save you the trouble? Getting some cash with you as you travel as Uganda car rentals mostly prefer cash and all credit cards may be faulty.

Surely you’ve made a few of these mistakes yourself a time or two on any safari car rental all around the world travelling. But all put in mind we can always have the best Uganda safaris at all cost.
